Point of Care Testing

Currently the ‘Point of Care’ team based in Clinical Laboratory Medicine have produced there first e-learning package to update and assess the competence of users of the Roche b123 Blood Gas analysers. The first e-learning package has been posted on the ‘Point of Care Testing’ section of the ELHT OLI Intranet.  By completing and passing the e-learning exam the system automatically renews the operators access to the blood gas analysers for a further time period without any manual input. It is anticipated that the b123 Blood Gas E-learning package will be fully launched by the end of April 2015.

The ‘Point of Care’ team plans to extend the subject range of our e-learning training packages available to junior medical staff in the future with the inclusion of additional training packages for Point of care devices. For additional information contact Saj Ulldin, Associate Practitioner from the Point of Care Team, Saraj.Ull-Din@elht.nhs.uk

The advantages of the E-learning Package are that staffs do not need to attend offsite training, the operator can access at time convenient to them and their department and time invested in logging assessment training is saved by automation.
