About Undergraduate Medical Education at ELHT
Welcome to the Department of Undergraduate Education at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. We have been running a highly successful student programme for many years and we are continually expanding and improving the service we offer to medical students. We are affiliated to the Medical Schools at the University of Central Lancashire and Lancaster University. We have extremely strong links with Primary Care and work closely with our colleagues in the community to provide an integrated approach to education across the Primary and Secondary care sectors. We are proud to say that we have an established reputation for providing high quality, innovative teaching and students return to us year after year as they progress through their training. Many will eventually return to live and work in East Lancashire. The Director of Undergraduate Education is Prof Damien Lynch who is a Consultant in Gastroenterology and who has many years of experience within Undergraduate Education. He is assisted by a large, enthusiastic and skilled group of tutors and staff who run the various individual modules. We all know that not everything always goes according to plan. If you have any questions or need help with anything, in the first instance come to the DUE office – our door is always open and the kettle is usually always on! If we can’t help there, we will be able to direct you to someone who can. |

Local Area
Blackburn may not have the buzz of a big city such as Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool or London, but it has its own attractions! There is a busy city centre with shopping, cinemas, sports centres and ice skating arena.
The beautiful countryside of the Ribble Valley is just up the road, and the Lake District is only a short drive away. Have a look at what is on offer in the local area. |
