ELHT are committed to widening access to promote an awareness and aspiration of NHS careers to members of our local community.
ELHT offer work placement schemes with a view to upskill local residents and helping them achieve long term employment and training in a wide range of job roles.

Step into ELHT
Delivered as a partnership programme with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and local colleges. This programme is open to all unemployed residents within our footprint. DWP recruit the candidates who undertake a three week college course Level 1, employability skills for working in the adult care and child care sectors on completion of this three week course, candidates are interviewed for work placements. The candidates are offered a work placement for a duration of 3 weeks which is based around individual skills set. They are paired with a ‘buddy’ in their department for support and guidance whilst on placement.

Princes Trust – Get into Hospitals
This programme targets young individuals aged 18 -30 who are looking to start their careers within the NHS. The young people are offered a 4 week placement within clinical or non-clinical departments. The students are assigned a mentor for support on departments/wards. Alongside this programme students are also supported with CV writing, interview skills and specific information related to application process to apply for vacancies within ELHT.
