What is Good Clinical Practice (GCP)?
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is the international ethical, scientific and practical standard to which clinical research is conducted. Compliance with GCP provides public assurance that the rights, safety and wellbeing of research participants are protected and that research data are reliable.
Do I need GCP training?
For most clinical research studies, you will need to complete GCP training, provide a copy of your GCP certificate, complete a short CV and sign a study delegation log before you begin working on the study. Please contact [email protected] for more information.
Who provides this GCP training?
These e-learning modules are provided by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). They’re free of charge for NHS staff and a certificate of completion is provided.
How do I access the training?
The training is provided online and the module takes approximately 6 hours to complete. The completed module awards 6 CPD points.
To access the modules, you’ll need to register for a free NIHR Learn account via the following link: https://learn.nihr.ac.uk/. Once you’ve accessed the site, select ‘GCP e-learning’.
There are a number of options available:
