I under took the role of Project lead for Simulation in October 2020. I am passionate about clinical education, especially the use of simulation and believe that it underpins high quality patient care.
My responsibilities are:
Development of an organisational wide simulation strategy for ELHT linking in with key stakeholders.
Co-ordination of medical student OSCEs for Lancaster Medical School
I have a background of over 25 years in nursing finally specialising in Critical Care with a number of years spent as an autonomous practitioner and independent non-medical prescriber within the Critical Care Outreach Team. I moved into a full time education role and joined the Clinical Education Team at ELHT in July 2014 as Clinical Skills and Preceptorship Lead. Teaching others is something that I have always enjoyed throughout my nursing career - I feel that it is an opportunity to make a difference and enhance front line patient care through supporting and developing individuals and teams through educational programmes. Within this role I wrote a successful programme to support International Nurses through the NMC registration process, developed the ELHT preceptorship programme and became an Honary Lecturer for UCLan Medical School.
To support and underpin my educational role, I have undertaken:
Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning
Resuscitation Councils Generic Instructor Course
ILM 5 Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring.
MSc Education, Management and Clinical Practice
Outside the work environment I enjoy skiing and running – I ran in the Paris marathon in April 2016 and 2018.
