Lancaster University
To improve their medical student experience Lancaster Medical School approached ELHT to provide medical education and training for their undergraduates. This started in 2016 and has proved very successful with ELHT a popular choice among Lancaster medical students.
ELHT subsequently collaborated with Lancaster University in its successful bid to increase medical student places. Currently, ELHT takes students from Years 2, 3, 4 and 5. The numbers attending ELHT will increase substantially over the next five years and will include students from Years 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Our current offer for Lancaster students is as follows:

Our current offer for Lancaster students is as follows:
Year 2 |
Students attend for a 10 week block, pending 5 weeks in a medical specialty and 5 weeks in a surgical specialty. |
Year 3 |
Students attend for the care of the elderly block and spend 7 weeks embedded within our teams here at ELHT. |
Year 4 |
Students attend Acute Medicine (16 weeks), Acute Surgery (16 weeks), Palliative Care (16 weeks), Obstetrics and Gynaecology (5 weeks) and Paediatrics (5 weeks). |
Year 5 |
This is a student's choice to come to ELHT as part of their preparation for practice. They attend for placements in Acute Medicine, ward placements and student selected modules. |
