Where do the PEF team work?
The PEF team work across the trust and within the private and voluntary sectors in East Lancashire. The PEF team support 16 different professions and around 500 students each year. The PEF team also work to support the new trainee Nursing Associate programme.
How do the PEF team link with the Healthcare Environment Inspectorate?
The PEF team work in partnership with the Healthcare Environment Inspectorate via a number of different forums, including:
How do the PEF team ensure that each placement area provides a good learning environment?
All clinical placement areas are required to meet National Professional and regional quality standards for education. In the Northwest all placement areas are required to complete a self-assessed clinical placement audit every two years.
New clinical placements receive a lot of input from the PEF team in order to ensure the area is a suitable learning environment.
Existing clinical placements also receive support from the PEF team. This may be in the form of problem solving, placement visits, help and guidance completing the education audit and monitoring of education action plans
How do the PEF team evaluate student learning and share this information within the trust?
At the end of each placement students complete evaluations. The PEF team ensure that this feedback is shared within the trust.
The PEF team also co-ordinate student mid or end of placement reviews that allow students to share their experiences of the care and learning within the trust.
- ensure that clinical placements within the Trust meet local, National Professional and Regional Quality Standards for Education.
- facilitate the development of mentor & clinical educator roles.
- support students to maximise their potential.
