Ruth Smith

Ruth Smith is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a long standing commitment to Medical Education. Ruth is passionate about the delivery of high quality clinical training, thus ensuring patient care is exemplary.

She graduated from Newcastle, and trained in the North West. She was College tutor for her specialty from 2014. During this time the department were highly commended for training in several spheres, and consistently GMC green outliers. She has also led annual regional training days, with universally positive feedback. Prior to taking over as Director of Medical Education she was Training Programme Director for ST 3- 5 within the North West. She will ensure medical training at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust enables clinicians to be the best they can be.
