Clinical Activity Support - Safer Handling
The Safer Handling Team serves the acute and community sectors of the trust. providing training and advice regarding all aspects of manual handling.
The team devise, develop, and monitor manual handling training programmes to include patient and non-patient handling. We coach and support Safer Handling Facilitators who then cascade the training to their colleagues in the wards and departments.
When required, we can be involved in providing advice and assessing patients, recommending appropriate handling techniques and equipment to deal safely with manual handling operations relating to those patients or patient groups.
The team manage the risk assessments process for recording manual handling risks and standard operating procedures. Supporting areas in assessment and development of safer handling of work in order to promote a positive safety culture for patients and staff.
